Finished my Currumbin Tree
I don't know the proper name of my newly finished tree which I am calling Currumbin Tree but when I find out, the correction will be made.
Looked at the current ASBA publication called the Botanical Artist and I'll be entering their Botanial Garden Triennial, "Weird, Wild and Wonderful". The submission deadline is September 13th, 2013.
Found a wonderful & weird plant on our Sunday Hike on the Old Sauk Trail just outside of Darrington and it will be my subject.
Just finished listening to a Playaway recording of Half the Sky by Nicholas D Kristof & Sheryl WuDunn about empowering women in developing countries and for that matter anywhere in the world. Very challenging and I have decided to donate 10% of any art sales to Heifer International. They support educating girls and also "women's empowerment" which enables women to lift themselves out of hunger & poverty.

I do my best thinking while I am driving or riding my bike. How to be successful after defeat. I could erase the bird and then using 240 grit sandpaper get rid of the offending foul fowl. So, that's what I did and did not erase or sand through the paper. I need to remember that I cannot just plop an image into a composition and assume that will it will be what the picture needs.
The Currumbin Tree
Next Wednesday, July 3rd the Art Loft Sisters will be showing work in the Fisherman's Grill for the month of July.
I have been working so hard on my Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary tree that time has slipped away and I don't have many new pieces to show. My point about the Currumbin Tree is that I felt it needed some wildlife sitting on one of the sinuous roots and this is the part that is difficult to confess. The bird does not look real and is superfluous anyway. I just jumped in and drew the thing and now it looks stupid.
I'll try tomorrow to see if I can bring it to life. Arrrgh!
Gingerbreadman Christmas Card
Every year I create a card for my family and friends. This year I thought it would be fun to take a Christmas ornament as the theme of 2012. After spending a whole day making Norwegian Christmas cookies with my sister on Saturday, December 8th, gingerbread was on my mind.
Hope you enjoy this whimsical creation as much as I do.
Fisherman's Market & Grill at Harbor Marine
My artwork is currently being displayed at Harbor Marine in the Fisherman's Market & Grill located at 1032 W Marine View Dr Bldg C in Everett. Harbor Marine is located on 10th St close to the Jetty Island Ferry. There are 5 artists featured and several this is their very first time. We have been very happy with the response of our friends and public to our art. You are invited to view this exciting venue until November 27th, 2012.
Anthony's Woodfire Grill
14 of my original art pieces were showcased at Anthony's Woodfire Grill from beginning of July until August 30th, 2012. They were available for purchase during Fresh Paint and annual art event at Port Gardner Bay.
Thanks for viewing.
Finished another watercolor version of a pen & ink today. I have also uploaded each completed page of the Zion Coloring Book to Fine Art America to sell cards and copies of the coloring book. Thanks for your interest.
This is a reminder to eat your fruits and vegetables. Time for Rainier Cherries at your local Farmers Market.
Northern Checkerspot Butterfly
I was enjoying my grandchildren in Disneyland last week. The rides were terrific and some waiting lines were not bad.
Today I am working on a Norther Checkerspot Butterfly I found in Kolob Canyon in Zion National Park. I will scan this today and upload.
Thanks for enjoying my website.
Zion Coloring Book Project
I was greatly inspired by the landscape during a recent trip to Zion National Park. I am working on putting together a coloring book from the photos that I took while there. I've uploaded an album on the Inger Hutton Artist Facebook page of the work in progress. Take a look if you have a moment!
